What is Worklist on the New Income Tax Portal?
Worklist is a new service that enables the users of the portal to view and act upon the various pending actions against their name post login. One must be registered on the e-filing portal with a valid user ID and password to avail this service.
Guide to Accessing the Worklist on New Income Tax Portal
One has to login to the new e-filing portal. He or she will be taken to the e-Filing Dashboard. Locate and click on the “Pending Actions” tab. This section expands on the same page when you click it.
A drop down with the words “worklist'' will appear. On the worklist page, there will be two tabs, namely “For Your Action” and “For Your Information”.
For Your Action contains a list of pending items that need your attention, as you have to take appropriate measures to address them. If on each of the items displayed to be redirected to the tasks that need to be completed. Once all of it is resolved, then move on the For Your Information.
The options that are available under each of the tabs have been mentioned below. The action prescribed under the For Your Action column corresponds to the item in the For Your Information column.

Each Action in Detail
1. Client Request List and Client Request Details
- Under the For your Action tab, you will be able to see a heading called "Client Request List".
- Against all the items mentioned, there is an option to either accept or reject the item. As per the choice made, the item will be removed from the list.
- The corresponding option under For Your Information tab would be “Client Request Details”. The Client Request Details would display either of the following information –
- If the assessee revokes the request, then the status will be displayed as "Request Revoked by Assessee".
- If the period of authorization as CA has expired, then the status will be displayed as “Period of Authorisation expired”.
2. Request List
- The next item would be the “Form Request List”. This For Your Action item will display all the requests received and pending for acceptance.
- One has to click accept or reject in order to undertake the action.
- In case, accept is the option that is clicked, then the said form is moved to the “Pending for Filing” or “Pending for Verification” according to the form type.
- In case of rejection, then a pop-up will appear on the screen, requesting the reason for such a rejection to be typed out and submitted. Once this is completed, the form will be moved to the “For Your Information” tab.
- If you wish to view all the form requests at once, then click on the “View All'' option present on the right hand side of the page. The user has been provided the option of exporting all the forms into Excel. In circumstances that the assessee revokes the said request using the “My CA service” this item status will be shown as “Revoked by Assessee''.
3. Pending For Filing
- One will see the form filing requests that have been received and accepted but those that are pending for filing.
- One must then click on “File Form” in order to take action.
- This can be done by either filing a new form or editing a previously filed form using either online or offline submission mode.
- The said form must be verified with the help of a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) and the “Continue” button must be clicked upon.
- If the action is successful, then the form will appear on the “For Your Information” tab under the “Uploaded Form Details” head, where it will be pending acceptance by the assessee. One even has the option of clicking on “View all” to peruse all the documents at once.
4. Pending For Verification
- Under this tab, one will see all the forms that have been received and accepted but are pending for verification.
- The CA has the option of verifying the form or rejecting the same.
- In case of rejection, a cogent reason must be provided in the space provided on the screen.
- If one chooses to click on “Verify Form” instead, he or she will be redirected to another page on which the form can be previewed.
- Click on the preview option, peruse the details and then click on “e-Verify”. The e-verification will happen with the help of a Digital Signature Certificate.
- On successful e-verification, the form will then be shifted to the “Uploaded Form Details” head, under the “For Your Information” tab, where it will be pending acceptance by the assessee.
5. Pending requests to add you as an Authorised Representative
- Under this option, you will see the requests pending acceptance. Click on either the accept it reject button to decide your course of action.
- If one chooses to accept, then a Power of Attorney must be uploaded. The said document must be in a pdf format and must not exceed 5MB in size.
- The declaration checkbox must then be clicked, after which one can proceed to further verification with the help of a Digital Signature Certificate.
- If one chooses to reject the pending request, then the reason for the rejection must be clearly mentioned in the pop-up that appears.
- If the process is successful, then the request will be moved to the Received Authorised Representative Requests tab.

You can view these details by logging into your e-filing account and selecting ‘Pending Actions’ from your e-Filing Dashboard. Assesses' names and PANs are listed, along with their request list status of ‘Pending for Filing’ and ‘Pending for Verification’. You can go to the ‘View All’ page of the assessee's worklist to take additional action by clicking on the assessee's name or pending item.
Q - In the Pending for Filing section of Worklist, what happens on clicking File Form if the filing type is revised?
If the filing type is revised, you must select the following reasons (where applicable) while clicking on the File Form:
- Revision of accounts of a company
- Change of law
- Change in interpretation, e.g., CBDT's circular
- Others (Specify)
After you've specified the reason(s), you can proceed to the page where you can submit the form. If you choose to file electronically, you can choose between two options:
- File a new form
- Edit the previously filed form
QIn the Pending for Filing section of Worklist, what happens on clicking File Form if the filing type is original?
If the filing type is original, you will be directed directly to the page where you can fill the form by clicking on File Form. You can fill out, save, download, and see the completed form in online mode and file it.
If you choose the offline mode, you must first download the appropriate utility, then download the pre-filled XML / JSON, fill out the form, then generate the XML / JSON to upload to the e-Filing portal for filing (The maximum size of a single attachment should be 5MB).
