Method 1: Linking Aadhar Card with PAN card without logging in to the income tax website
Visit the income tax government website to link your Aadhar with PAN.
Click on the “Link Aadhar” tab under the “Our service” section.
You will see a window where you shall fill in your details to link both the cards. After filling in the details, click on the “Link Aadhar” button.
Once you click on the “Link Aadhar” button, you will see a window, where you will have to enter the verification code received on your mobile.
Enter the verification code and click on the “validate” button.
Once you click the validate button, your PAN will be linked to Aadhaar. You can then check the linking status.
Method 2: Linking Aadhar Card with PAN card After logging in to the income tax website
In order to link Aadhaar with PAN card , all you have to do is follow these 5 simple steps:-
Visit the income tax website, and click on the login tab.
Fill in your details to login into the portal.
On the income tax dashboard, under the Link Aadhaar to PAN option, click on the 'Link’ button.
Fill in the details on the window that appears after clicking on the link button.
After successful linking of your Aadhar with the PAN, a pop up will appear, stating that your request has been sent for validation. Once you see that, you can click on the ‘ Link Aadhar Status’ on the home page to see the status of your update.
Method 3: Link Your Aadhar Card with PAN card via SMS
The income tax department has started SMS-based Aadhaar to PAN linking facilities to make it easier for the residents to link their IDs. It can be done by sending an SMS to either 567678 or 56161. However, you need to use your registered mobile number.
Type UIDPAN <Space><12 Digit Aadhaar No.><Space><10 Digit PAN> and send a SMS to 567678 or 56161
For Ex- UIDPAN 111122223333 AAAPS1111A
4- Link Aadhar-PAN manually by filling up a form (Annexure-1)
CBDT has also provided a manual method for linking Aadhaar and PAN. In case any mismatch is found in the data of PAN & Aadhaar and a person is not able to sort it out through other methods then this method is also available to individuals.
To get it done manually you are required to visit service centres of PAN, NSDL or UTIITSL. Here along with the copies of PAN and Aadhaar, you will be required to fill Annexure-1.
However, this service is not free of charge unlike other online services. An individual is required to pay the prescribed fees. The fees would be charged only if any correction is required in the PAN or Aadhar.
Charges for any correction in PAN card are Rs.110 and for correcting the details in Aadhaar Card charges are Rs.25. In case there is high mismatch in the data of Aadhaar and PAN, then biometric authentication is compulsory.
How To Check PAN And Aadhaar Link Status
To check whether your Aadhaar and PAN cards are linked or not, follow these steps:
VOn the income tax portal, head on to the “our services” tab.
Click on the “Link Aadhaar” card displayed on the page.
You will see a window where you need to fill in your PAN and Aadhar card numbers.
A Pop-up will appear showing the status of your cards.
