How To Link Aadhaar Card With HDFC Bank Account?

According to the latest decision of the government and the apex court, it was made mandatory to link aadhaar with your bank accounts. Aadhaar is a 12 digit identity number which is required for several official proceedings like applying for a PAN card or buying a new mobile network. Apart from these, Aadhaar also comes with several benefits for all sections of society. Thus it is advisable to adhere to the popular practices and benefit from them. To make the linking process quick and hurdle free, HDFC bank like other banks have come up with various methods to aid people. Most popular ways to link Aadhaar at HDFC bank consists of either visiting the nearest branch or via HDFC internet banking. Other ways are by visiting the nearest HDFC ATM or by downloading the HDFC app or by phone banking also.

Through Internet Banking

You can follow these steps to link aadhaar via HDFC internet banking

  • Open the net banking portal of HDFC bank at ‘netbanking.hdfcbank.com’
  • Log in to your account and select ‘requests’ option under the account section
  • Look for ‘update/link aadhaar number’ option and select it
  • Put/select the account details to which you want to link your Aadhaar
  • After selecting the account, put in your aadhaar number for linking
  • Cross-check all the information and then click ‘submit’ to complete the process

By Phone Banking

Link aadhaar via phone banking

  • Download HDFC’s 'Mobile Banking' app if not previously downloaded
  • Log in to the app and under the ‘account’ section, choose ‘request’
  • Under ‘request’, select ‘view/update aadhaar number’ and put in the account number that needs to be linked to the aadhaar
  • Put in your aadhaar number and select either ‘update’ or ‘confirm’ to submit the details and complete the linking process

Via ATM

By following these steps, you can link your aadhaar to your bank account via ATM

  • The process can be started by visiting the nearest ATM
  • Whenever you finish a transaction, a pop-up message on the screen will ask the user if he/she wants to link aadhaar
  • Select ‘yes’ whenever this pop-up question is asked
  • You will be asked to enter and then re-enter your 12 digit aadhaar number in the space provided
  • A confirmation message will be shown if your linking is successful
  • However, if you don’t want to do any transaction, you can simply swipe your debit card and opt for ‘link aadhaar with your bank account’ under ‘service requests’ option
  • Enter and then re-enter your aadhaar number and press ‘submit’ in the end.      

Through Mobile App

Linking aadhaar to your bank account using a mobile app:

  • Download the HDFC mobile banking app if you are not using it already
  • Log in to the app and follow this process: ‘requests’ >> ‘accounts’ >> ’view/update aadhaar card’
  • After following the above-mentioned  steps, select the HDFC account which you want to link to  your aadhaar card
  • Enter and then re-enter your aadhaar card and click on ‘update’
  • Re-check the information and select ‘confirm’ to officially submit your request
  • After the request has been received, your aadhaar will be linked to your bank account

Visiting a Branch

If the applicant doesn’t have online means, then the linking process can also be done by visiting the nearest HDFC branch. Follow the steps mentioned if visiting a branch:

  • Go to that branch of HDFC where you have your bank account
  • Request for ‘aadhaar linking form’ and fill in all the necessary details in the form
  • Attach a self-attested copy of your aadhaar with the form and submit it to any bank executive
  • The executive might ask for your original aadhaar card for verification. So it advisable to carry your original aadhaar card along with a copy when applying for the aadhaar linking process
  • After the verification, make sure you are receiving a receipt which acts as ‘request approved’ token from the bank executive
  • Once your aadhaar is linked to the bank account, you will receive confirmation by any preferred means of communication
