4 The login page will appear where you would be required to enter details like

User ID – Which is your PAN number

Password – The password you set at the time of registering for Income Tax Login Online process

Captcha – This is 6 digit Alphabetic / Alpha Numeric random code which is required to be entered as shown in the image. Visually challenged users can alternatively seek to request OTP on their registered mobile number.

5 After successful login, you can see various options on Income Tax Login India website as stated below. As a word of caution, it is always suggested to log out your income tax e-filing account once you are done. Although the account automatically is logged out after 15 min of inactivity.

One needs to follow the following steps to get registered on income tax efiling website:

  • Step 1: Visit https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
  • Step 2: Click on the “Register Yourself” button appearing on the top right hand corner of the page.
  • Step 3: Select the type of user you are such as individual, partnership, company, trust, etc and fill in other basic details as required such as PAN, name, DOB, etc.
  • Step 4: After submitting the above details, you will receive an email for verification of your email address. After completing the verification process, fill and submit certain details such as password, personal details, etc.
  • Step 5: A message “Registration successful”, an email along with an activation link and a SMS with OTP.
  • Step 6: Click on the activation link enter the OTP received to activate your account. Once these steps have been followed successfully, your account will be ready for income tax e-filing.
